Introduction to Broadcast Journalism
for Teens (Ages: 12-18) Cancelled

Television news can show us the depth and profundity
of a news story like no other medium through the power of visuals.
Learn how the professionals evaluate newsworthiness and stack a news
program, which includes interviewing, shooting, editing and scripting
(writing to video). We will discuss current, local and national topics
that will be deemed news worthy. Each session will cover an advancing
task in the day of a journalist. Students will ultimately present
a two minute piece that will reflect content and style seen on local
or national news.
Intro to Digital Photography
(Ages: 12-18)
Dates: Saturdays: November 1, 8, 15, 22
Times: 10am – 1pm
Ages: 12 and up
Location: The Light Factory’s Classroom/Darkroom
Cost: $195.00/members, $225.00/non-members
Learn basic photography for the digital age. Students
learn hands on how to use their digital cameras and how to compose
good photographs by doing class assignments and photo excursions.
Students will learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop and digital image
manipulation to improve the quality of their images. Limit of 8 students.
Gallery Tours and Darkroom Demonstrations
Any group
interested in visiting The Light Factory is welcome to call and schedule
a tour and darkroom demonstration. We offer 15-minute gallery talks
for free as well as group tours which include activities designed
to educate and interest young people about the art on view at the
time and darkroom
demonstrations which are a basic introduction to photography. One
adult per 10 children is a requirement. To schedule a tour please

-Basic Tour:
$5
per student for a 60 – 90 minute tour. This includes a gallery
game and darkroom experience where students assist the instructor
in creating a different types of photographic prints.
-Enhanced Tour: $10
per student for a 60-90 minute tour. This includes a gallery game
and an individual darkroom experience where each student creates their
own photographic print to take home with them.

Artist Programs: Prices for outreach photography and
film classes and workshops vary based upon each site, the program,
and the number of students.
