39th Annual Members Show
May 23 - August 28, 2011 in the Middleton McMillan Gallery
Always one of the most memorable shows of the season, this exciting exhibition showcases the creative talents of The Light Factory’s diverse member base. See great work in a variety of mediums and formats - made by artists ranging from professional photographers to amateur hobbyists, from digital media artists and filmmakers to students.
Statement from The Light Factory's Chief Curator, Dennis Kiel:
Through our ongoing gallery exhibitions, film schedule, and education classes, we have remained true to our original goals of exhibiting international, national, and local artists working in photography and film. It is because of our challenging programs and our great mixing of local and national artist that we have such a diverse support group and membership. Although we have grown tremendously as an organization, we have remained in touch with our southeast roots and community; rich in photographers and filmmakers. Our local treasures are many as are our budding artists; this is what makes our Members Shows eclectic and wonderful.
As a tradition this exhibit is not juried and remains interdisciplinary so that we can present an opportunity to exhibit for the variety our membership holds. The Members Show is a truly egalitarian event and that is a rare find in the arts. The Light Factory is proud to exhibit the works of our multifaceted membership that has supported us in a multitude of ways.
