Upon graduation from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, with degrees in both Government and Theatre & Speech, Marcie Oberndorf-Kelso began her film career in Los Angeles as a freelance production assistant.
Marcie returned to Virginia in 1988 and assumed the position of Assistant Director of Economic Development for the City of Charlottesville. In the fall of 1991, Marcie joined the staff of the Virginia Film Office and in spring of 1995, Marcie became the Director of the Virginia Film Office. She was also elected to the Board of Directors for the Association of Film Commissioners, International.
Marcie came to the Charlotte region in February of 1996 to begin the Film Division of the Charlotte Regional Partnership. Under Marcie’s stewardship, the Film Division recruited over 21 full-length productions and numerous commercials to the area, among them Shallow Hal, The Patriot, and Having Our Say.
Marcie joined The Light Factory as Executive Director in 2002.
