The Light Factory Lumière Patron Circle
"The cinema is an invention without any future…" said the overly modest Auguste and Louis Lumière, two brothers who, in the back of their father’s photography studio in France, invented the motion picture. Their film work consisted mainly of moving images from scenes of everyday life, which the Lumière Brothers suspected would bore audiences who could, “just as easily see the same images on the street.” .jpg)
Today, we know the true importantance of the Lumière brothers' contribution, and that film and photography have changed the world forever. Still and moving pictures define our society, our most precious memories, and the way we experience the world.
As one of only four museums for photography and film in the country, The Light Factory celebrates these mediums with visionary programming. Through your financial support at the Lumière level, The Light Factory will grow our award-winning photography exhibitions and film screenings, classes and community outreach - fostering the power of image throughout the southeast United States.
Few will make a cinematic contribution to the world like the Lumière brothers did, but a contribution to The Light Factory is a great place to start.
